The single-celled freshwater alga Haematococcus pluvialis is commonly known as green alga, which protects itself against strong heat and ultraviolet radiation, cold as well as lack of nutrients, via the formation of carotenoids such as astaxanthin.     Great, there is now also astaxanthin in high doses from Unimedica. I take astaxanthin, which is one of the strongest carotenoids, in combination with OPC, which in turn contains anthocyanins. This is a reliable defence against free radicals!

    Amazing effect - for irritable bowel syndrome with flatulence
    I actually ordered astaxanthin to reduce the depth of my wrinkles. That also worked well. But what really blew me away was that my gut reacted incredibly positively to taking astaxanthin (12 mg every 2 days)! I've been suffering with flatulence, food intolerances and an uncomfortable feeling in my stomach for sooooooooooo long, probably 7 years, if not 10!, I've been to soooooooooo many different doctors who have all fobbed me off with the diagnosis "irritable bowel syndrome" and weren't prepared to look any further for causes, and now I've been taking astaxanthin for a few weeks - and my stomach is calm and feels good!     Hello Barbara, I noticed an improvement very quickly, from memory I would almost say after just one week. It took perhaps 3 months for the improvement to become stable. The other dietary supplements I was taking at the time were part of my standard regime long before astaxanthin, but without any success for my gut. I am currently not taking any astaxanthin at all and am still symptom-free. It's great! However, I now take 1 capsule of "Darmflorin" from Unimedica every day. This has virtually replaced the intake of astaxanthin. Before I started the "cure" with astaxanthin, I could not tolerate such bacterial products at all. My niece has also tried astaxanthin for her intestinal problems and is just as enthusiastic as I am! She also felt an improvement very quickly.     I bought Astaxanthin because I don't want to use sun cream any more and I'm absolutely delighted. I am a fair-haired, fair-skinned person and always used to apply Lf 30-50 sun cream because otherwise I would have got sunburnt after 10-15 minutes.     Increased concentration with curcuma and astaxanthin

    Whether people need these food supplements or whether a ripe and colourful diet shouldn't do the trick, well.
    Let's just say that if you already have a nutrient deficiency/illness or can't go organic shopping regularly, or live in the city, work in an office, etc., you'll be doing your skin and hair a world of good before and during the summer.
    As a cure, it works almost like an internal sunscreen,
    no more sunburn (but of course I don't grill myself in the blazing midday sun either),
    the tan is much nicer and lasts much longer.
    I have also noticed that there seems to be a connection with the preservation of hair colour, it seems to prevent/slow down premature greying. I will see how this develops over the years. However, there are already studies from Japan that show a connection between the dark hair of some populations in Asian countries and the consumption of certain algae/colouring agents in food.     read more ...
