Interesting, but the complexity is not very clear
It is well known that antibiotics and poor nutrition can cause some damage. What is less well known is that caesarean sections, among other things, can also disrupt the intestinal environment. The description of and research into "faecal transplants" is just as interesting. The book is therefore definitely worth reading. As far as the nutritional tips are concerned, they are too generalised. Allergies or food intolerances are not dealt with in any way, but these arise in particular when the microbiome is damaged. The nutritional suggestions cannot be implemented in the case of salicylate intolerance, for example. Long before anyone realises that something is wrong with the gut, there are often already inexplicable allergies to food. The absorption of vitamins is also impaired if the intestine is disturbed, which in turn can cause symptoms. Inflammatory processes in the gut often lead to histamine intolerance, which is not discussed in the book and therefore the nutritional tips are no longer valid. Anyone with an intestinal defect as described in the book usually has additional illnesses that are dealt with little or not at all and treatment with generally applicable foods is by no means sufficient. It would be more important to refer to a customised diet. Conclusion: good, but incomplete read more ...
