Clearly laid out, delicious recipes, usually quick to prepare
The Healing Kitchen by Dr Sarah Ballantyne and food blogger Aleana Haber on the Paleo diet is a helpful book for any form of anti-inflammatory diet with super tasty recipes.

The whole book has a practical structure and is suitable for beginners as well as experienced cooks. The special thing is that these recipes really do make everyday eating (with this book) relatively effortless and inexpensive. The book also contains many tips on how to cook in advance, which can make the life of a mother and working woman much easier.

Once you've made your pantry dairy-free and grain-free, egg-free and nut-free, chronic illnesses can be cured, that's the authors' credo. (I will report back in a few weeks). Which diseases would that be? Cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, asthma, allergies, cancer and above all, of course, autoimmune diseases such as Hashimoto's, thyroid problems and intestinal problems.
Oops, that would be quite a lot!

The first thing that convinces me is the beautiful structure of the book, it is extremely well structured and therefore valuable in everyday use. Sometimes you have to scroll a bit, which I find slightly annoying, but not so bad, because in some places it has the basic recipe and then the main recipe, for example, consists of 2 basic recipes. But that's only the case in some places.
What I think is great is that you can find all the recipes listed in the appendix.

What convinces me equally is: super recipes. As I like to eat and don't like to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, the recipes convince me that they are quick to make and not cheap fast food.

Whether this cuisine is really affordable, as the authors write, remains to be seen and I will report back honestly after a while. Because high-quality meat is of course more expensive, so organic beans and co.

Similar to the classic Paleo diet, the "healing kitchen" presented in the book only eats anti-inflammatory foods such as meat, poultry, offal, fish, seafood, shellfish, vegetables and fruit such as berries. Sugar is completely avoided.

The authors emphasise that avoiding foods that promote inflammation, such as the foods described above, as well as other refined products, can completely heal the body, which is often inflamed in modern people. I haven't eaten nightshade plants such as tomatoes or peppers for years anyway, you shouldn't eat them either and neither should spices with seeds (such as dill)!

I have now stocked up the pantry and bought lots of sweet potatoes from A L...D ...I for example. We have already tried 3 recipes and are very pleased with them.

The explanations in the book about buying and storing food are really helpful and valuable for a novice cook. For example, the authors recommend stocking up a little each week and always buying the ingredients you need for the meals you want to prepare that week (there are good shopping lists for this)... . If I always have a few emergency proteins and snacks to take with me, it makes my life even easier!

How do we know which of the new foods to put where? The authors give good tips that will be logical to experienced cooks, but the novice cook will know just by reading the book. e.g. : If you buy something chilled in the shop, put it in the fridge at home. If you buy something frozen, it belongs in the freezer...... You can tell from this that the authors take it very seriously and take us as readers step by step!

There are also some videos that you can watch online. Just type the authors' names into Y o u t u b e and search.

CONCLUSION
The book is interesting, the recipes tempting. I will soon report back on whether it really is as great as it sounds at first. In my previous Paleo experience, however, this very strict programme is helpful.
I'm sure I'll enjoy these recipes. There are also some delicious sweet dishes!
These are made with bananas as a sweetener, for example.

Lots of tips and great recipes
The authors have worked intensively on their own healing processes and share their well-founded and helpful conclusions with others in this book. The recipes, which are suitable for everyday use and mostly very easy to implement, offer a wealth of inspiration. The good structure and clarity are further plus points for this excellent Paleo book. read more ...
