A journey to one own's life: a case of Aristolochia clematitis - 622.72.05

back to list

by Michaela Zorzi

Klara’s mother was nineteen years old when she fell pregnant with her; her father was a twenty-two-year-old student. Although she was a strict Catholic, his mother was against the pregnancy and strongly pushed for Klara to be aborted but Klara’s mother refused. Consequently, she had to hide her pregnant belly in the parish community, because the mother-in-law was deeply ashamed by the circumstances in her "holy family".

Naturally, Klara did not want to come. The birth was long and exhausting, but then she was a very easy going baby and child for her parents. Her mother had one child after another, finally six altogether. Every child was a new disappointment for the grandmother – who felt sorry for her "poor" son – while each birth seemed to be a satisfaction for Klara’s mother.

I asked Klara how it was for her to grow up in this family: she felt more or less lost and confused about herself, her place, and her meaning for the family. Her parents were completely overwhelmed with daily life; there was no space and time left for the emotional needs of the six children. Klara had a lot of tasks as the eldest of her siblings, she was easy-going until she finished school and left her parent´s home, together with her younger brother.

When she entered her own world, her problems started: she did not have a world of her own. She could not concentrate, was confused about trifles, and could not handle daily life. She increasingly retired in her own little world, staying at home, and avoiding contact with friends. She started to smoke pot to escape from real life, which remained strange for her.

She fell in love with a young man, who did not care about her. She longed for him and for his love for about ten years.

As Klara got older, her parents could not understand why their daughter was unable to finish her studies; she became an outsider in the family because of her "strange" behaviour. All her brothers and her sister were more or less successful, but she stayed in her own world. Her brother’s girlfriend moved in with him, so she lost her home. She then lived with a family, where she looked after the children to earn a little money.

I met her at that time. She had nearly nothing, just a bag with her private things. She looked confused and wanted to leave this world: not seriously in a suicidal way, but she could not understand why she had to enter this world.  She had such high ideals for improving this world and humankind; her eyes seemed so clear and shiny, her mood could rise to the skies and then fall down to hell.

She wanted definitely to become herself, but had no idea how to achieve this. It seemed that there was a wall separating her from her own life.

Her mother is a Catholic and tough-minded person. She began to vent all her anger on her daughter, accusing her of not working, not earning money, not being stable and grounded, and for her spirituality, which she condemned as esoteric. “If you are so spiritual, why do you smoke weed and waste your time instead of helping others?”

Klara’s father was rather weak; he neither could not really take his wife’s side nor stand by his daughter.

So, the parents consulted a psychologist, who predicted that Klara would remain dependent on her parents her whole life, remaining childlike and unable to earn her own money.

Meanwhile, the grandmother felt badly about the pregnancy of her granddaughter: she offered Klara a room in her house, half in the cellar, but with a nice view of the garden, which she loves. Klara lived there in a complete chaos until the grandmother could no longer stand the situation. Klara then moved back in with her parents, and since the other rooms were used, she was put in a tiny room in the cellar, where the pets previously lived. Any change for the better seemed unimaginable.

I tried to encourage Klara again and again, believing in her ability to live on her own, to earn money, and to free herself from her parents. Of course, I gave her a lot of remedies, which brought constant changes: Curare (completely emotionless at the beginning, with high ideals), Iodum (fleeing from the world and its brutality), Lanthanum chloratum (what can I do with this mother?), Neodymium chloratum (proving to her mother), Cereus bonplandii (shrinking and longing for love), Hydrogenium (incarnation), Natrium chloratum (disappointed by her mother), Magnesium carbonicum (forsaken by her father, but needing his stability).

With these remedies, she started to become more independent; she knew that she would be able to get out of her prison, but she needed time, and so did I!

Physical complaints: headache, dysmenorrhoea, recurrent tonsillitis

The knowledge of Wonderful Plants encouraged me to have another look at Klara´s situation.

I started to analyse:
Klara was self-reflective, she had already done psychotherapy, she made a lot of effort to understand herself and her situation. So, one could think about the series 665:
- 6: Lanthanide quality, self-reflective, wants to be free
- 5: spiritual, special

I had already given her a Lanthanide, with the result of her gaining more insight into herself and becoming less dependent on her parents. Her real problem, though, was the little confused inner child, who could not cope with the world.

This led to 622: Carbon series, birth, ego, father
Phase 7: she was always anxious about losing her life, her parents, her home (like chloratum, iodum)
Subphase 2: she had been abandoned from the beginning (like Magnesium)

So, how wonderful: the Aristolochiales - 622.72 appeared.

Phase 7: being expelled

Subphase 2: longing to get in

Prescription: Aristolochia clematitis IM

Follow ups

Within several months, Klara started a new job and this time she could manage it. At the beginning, she got sick every few weeks due to the amount of energy she needed to stay in the world, to stay grounded and not to flee.

From month to month, however, she became stronger and more confident. She could feel that she was appreciated by her colleagues and by the children she cared for in an after-school care club.

She left the cellar of her parents’ house and moved into an apartment with a woman. It seemed to me a large step: I doubted a bit whether Klara would manage, but with some ups and downs, she did. She stopped smoking weed during the week, only smoking on the weekend.

She contacted again the man with whom she was in a relationship ten years before, and finally realized that he was unable to be in a committed relationship. Her menses became regular and painless, her energy improved and her tonsillitis cleared up.

I am full of hope for her and her new and own life.

Discussion

Aristolochia belongs to the Magnoliidae, which have the number 622 in the Plant theory.

The Carbon series (2) have the theme: birth, child, ego, self -worth, father

The double 2 in the Magnoliidae strongly point to the Carbon series with the theme: birth, child, being strange, feeling confused, lost, not knowing how to handle the world, parents weak or absent, symbiotic; they do not know if they can be themselves.

Aristolochiales are phase 7, which fits the foul smell of the plants and their way of attracting and holding onto insects. The hairs inside the tubes prevent their escape before they have pollinated the stamens: being trapped, expelled, outcast, revenge, mother theme (halogen), unfulfilled love.

Aristolochiaceae (climbing plants) are subphase 2: insecure, abandoned, not in the family, trying to get in, Magnesia-like, longing for a relationship.
