Affron® saffron extract makes spring optimism last the whole year
Safran is not only the most expensive spice in the world and a colourful ingredient for cakes. The orange-red threads of the saffron crocus flower (Crocus sativus) also have valuable properties. For 4000 years saffron has been used as a colouring, spice and natural remedy. Persian and Chinese folk medicine valued the beneficial effects of the carotinoids and essential oils contained in saffron.
The best saffron extract comes from Spain
Saffron capsules from Unimedica contain the premium ingredient Affron® saffron extract – an innovative branded product from crocuses grown in Spain. It is very rapidly absorbed by the body. Affron® is the only saffron extract with a standardised content of 3.5 % lepticrosalides®, i.e. each capsule contains the same amount of this patented combination of ingredients.
“Lepticrosalides®” refers to the bioactive components of saffron. These include crocin, safranal and picrocrocin. Crocin is a carotinoid that gives the threads of Crocus sativus their typical colour. Picrocrocin is a bitter substance giving the spice saffron its characteristic taste. Safranal is responsible for the main flavour and produces the scent of crocus.
Excellent quality
Thanks to the careful selection and processing of the best saffron quality (GMO-free, pesticide-free and allergen-free) plus the latest scientific insights into its biochemistry, Affron® is a valuable natural support. Affron® saffron extract has a US patent in several clinical studies.
Saffron is native to India, Iran and the Mediterranean region. Since only the fine threads of the tender flowers of saffron crocuses are used, around 150,000 to 250,000 flowers are required for one kilogram of saffron. Even today the flowers are harvested by hand. Saffron is therefore still the most expensive spice in the world.
Each bottle of saffron capsules from Unimedica contains 120 capsules. This is enough for two month.
